How to choose a fireplace brand
The best brand for you depends on the kind of fire you want, the room it’s going in, and the look you’re after. Here’s how to narrow it down.
Start with the type of fire
Electric fires plug in and are easy to fit, and don’t need a chimney or flue. Gas fires give a real flame and need suitable ventilation or a flue. Wood-burning and multi-fuel stoves burn real fuel and need a chimney or flue. Brands tend to focus on different types, so choosing the type first quickly shortens the list.
Think about your space
Measure the wall or chimney breast, and note whether there’s an existing chimney, hearth, or alcove. A compact room may suit a slimline electric fire, while a large space can carry a bigger stove or a full surround.
Choose a look
Freestanding stove, inset fire, wall-mounted fire, or a complete suite with mantel and surround? If you like a traditional fireplace, look at the mantel and surround brands alongside the fires.
Compare flames in person
Flame effects, brightness, and finishes look very different on screen. See our fire displays or visit the showroom to compare fires side by side. Please call before you travel, as displays change.
Check installation needs early
We supply products but don’t offer installation. Gas fires must be fitted by a Gas Safe registered engineer, and solid-fuel stoves by a suitably qualified installer. Your installer can also confirm what your chimney or flue needs, so it’s worth speaking to them before you order. Download brochures to share the specifications with them.
Talk to your installer early
We recommend speaking to a qualified fire installer as early as possible, ideally before placing your order. Getting professional advice early can help avoid unexpected costs, delays or discovering that your chosen model isn’t suitable for your home. A little planning now can save a lot of hassle later.
